It is our desire to make disciples. We believe that God calls all of his children to participate in disciple-making. It isn’t just for pastors! One of our core values is that we are all ministers. And that looks different for every member of the body of Christ.
Ephesians 4:11-13
Youth aren’t the church of the future. Or become the church when they grow up. No, our kids are the church now. We believe in meeting our students where they’re at, discipling them in real-time for real life with God’s truth & love, and calling them to relationship with Jesus, who gives life and brings light to every situation.
With Children’s Church on Sunday morning & a special time for kids on Wednesday, we are seeking to cultivate God’s love in little hearts. Headed up by Heather and carried out by volunteers, this ministry focuses specifically on kids 4 years old through those completing 5th grade.
Our Children’s Church curriculum focuses on what God did in the Bible. On Sunday mornings, we have a lesson, a memory verse, an activity, and games!
On Wednesday, the curriculum focuses on who God is, His names, attributes, character, and more.
Our goal is to teach the children that because of who God is we can trust Him to continue to be the God we read about in the Bible. Each week, we eat together, have the lesson, crafts and/or activities, and then outdoor play, weather permitting, and indoor games when it it doesn’t
Sunday School
Beginning in October, our ladies will meet at 10 am, before service, in the fellowship hall. We will spend time in God’s Word and discussion as we work through a curriculum together (TBA).
Breakfasts
On the first Saturday of each month, we will meet for a women’s breakfast in the fellowship hall. Typically at 9:30 am, we will hold a potluck breakfast (bring something light to share) and one of our ladies will share a devotional. We also enjoy crafting or planning events together.
Join with our guys on the first Saturday of each month at 8am for a Men’s breakfast. Accompanied by a devotional for men, there is food and fellowship!
The idea was born in 2021. What if we lined Emanuel Street with tables and invited the whole community to join SBC for a free meal? For an opportunity to sit down and build relationships with our neighbors over a delicious plate of food?
In the Spring of 2022, God made it happen. Now for 3 years, our sending church, The River, has collaborated with us to host this event. Together, spurred on by God’s love and provision, we look forward to The Table each year and cherish this opportunity to love on our small town through food & the gospel.
Next Event: Spring, 2026
